Summer Budget

Hello, and welcome to LIVE coverage of The Chancellor’s Summer Budget.

George Osborne will present his first-all Conservative budget, since 1996, to the House Of Commons at 12:30pm. The budget is expected to outline £12 billion in welfare cuts – although they will be spread out over three years, instead of the original two years.

Sunday trading laws are also set to be relaxed, with the Chancellor handing powers over to Council leaders and elected Mayors, to decide if larger stores can stay open for longer.

But, students could be hit hard by the cuts, as reports suggest the budget will signal the end of maintenance grants to those from low-income families hoping to go to University.
